It is the commercial center of Guangzhou. There are numerous branded shops on both sides of the pedestrian street, mainly specialty shops and popular brands. Most stores are open from 9:00 to 22:00. It is simultaneously fashionable and traditional.

Shangxiajiu is one of the most prosperous areas in the old city. The pedestrian street is about 1,218 meters long. The existing main architectures are Qilou, mostly built in the Qing Dynasty. On this street lie more than 200 stores, especially those brand name restaurants and teahouses open here. Visitors from Shangxiajiu can experience the traditional Cantonese architecture Qilou and experience the snacks while walking along the street. Wende Calligraphy and Painting Street neighboring the Beijing Lu is known as 'Guangzhou Gallery'. Stores selling works of calligraphy and craftworks line both sides of the road.This is a good place to look for antiques and traditional Chinese artistic goods.

Guangzhou’s clothes wholesale business is very vibrant, and there are many clothing wholesale markets in Guangzhou. The most famous are around Guangzhou Station: Baima Wholesale Market, Huimei International, Tianma, Cotton Tree and many other famous markets.
