Tianjin Ancient Culture Stree is Located near Mazu Palace (tianhougong), the entrance to Ancient Culture Street is marked by a huge Qing - era archway with a tiled roof and upturned eaves. After passing under the arch and into this veritable tourist trap, the architecture remains largely the same and is reminiscent of the last dynastic period in Chinese history. A large public square is the staging ground for innumerable holiday festivals and cultural performances. Each year, on the 23rd day of the third lunar month, the sensational Imperial Festival is held here wherein temple fairs and folk performances are held to celebrate the birth of the sea goddess Mazu.
Ancient Culture Street is a largely pedestrian district crammed with shops, snack stalls, multi-colored pennants, clay figurine craftsmen, and Wei kite merchants.
