Located in the central downtown area, it is the center of Suzhou commerce, due at least in part to the presence of shops that have been doing business here for many years. The Pine and Crane Restaurant, Cai Zhi Zhai and Huang Tian Yuan are all located here. Others, including Lu Gao Jian, which is noted for its unique meat products, and Sheng Chun Yang, which sells high-quality hams, are also famous in the city. If food is not on your shopping list, you can visit the Heng Fu Silverware Shop, which was founded in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and enjoys an excellent reputation in China. For fashionable clothing, the Golden Eagle Shopping Center, located at No.1 Guan Qian Street, is your best choice.

Hotels, restaurants, clubs and pubs, fashionable clothes and splendid handcrafts are all available on this bustling street. Exquisite Su embroidery can be founded in Su Xiu Tang. Jin Sha Ge and Bo Gu Tang are two stores that sell antiques, pottery and porcelain. Chinese paintings and calligraphy are sold in Rui Guang Zhai. This street is also popular with young people looking for fashionable and reasonably priced Japanese, Korean, and European style clothing.

Shantang Street, an ancient riverside pedestrian road in northwest Suzhou, Jiangsu, is very popular with tourists. Nowadays the street reflects prosperity of both the present and the bygone era, with numerous shops and commercial guild halls. Tourists can try various snack shops with time-honored brands, including Caizhizhai, Wufangzhai and Qianshengyuan. There are also many specialty shops selling featured souvenirs like wood engravings, stones carvings and embroideries.

Fengqiao Bridge Street is a famous tourism commercial street with rich local featured culture. Famous Fengqiao Bridge Scenic Spot and Hanshan Temple is just nearby. The buildings along the street are in Ming and Qing style with primitive simplicity. Nanmen Business District (South Gate Business District) is located at the southern tip of Suzhou's old city. The ferry terminal of cruise between Hangzhou and Suzhou is also sited here. Nanmen area is a more modern shopping place compared with other places in the city and the business here is very prosperous. There are nearly 10 large comprehensive shopping malls, commercial buildings, supermarkets, department stores. Also, here is home to large fish market, fruits and vegetables wholesale market, tea market and electronic market, as well as entertainment place at the same time. All kinds of flavor restaurant are up to near 20. Here convenient transportation and large shopping malls make it the most bustling site in downtown Suzhou City.

Huqiu Street is one of the famous wedding dress production bases in China. Most of them are self-employed manual factory. Therefore, usually wedding dresses sold here are in low price, but fashionable and quite popular with local customers. In spring, autumn and winter every day, when is the peak season to get married, wedding dress would be in short supply. So you can have more free choices.

Shilu (stone road) is named for the cobble paved road. Commercial area is crowded with stores and shops which usually closed after 22:00. If you would like to do shopping in malls or department stores, Shilu (Stone Road) Pedestrian Street, is a wise choice. Here we recommend SLIS and Taipingyang Supermarket. Shilu is also a massed place for visitors cause Suzhou Railway Station is situated quite near.

Contemporary embroidery in Suzhou is blended with fashionable elements, yielding a unique style of embroidery that is popular all over the world. You can enjoy more exquisite Suzhou embroidery in the Su Embroidery Museum, which is at No.262, Jingde Road.

This is another of the fine handcrafts available in Suzhou. The traditional folding fans can be made of sandalwood or mandarin silk, while the newer style round fans are made of paper. Well known for its long history and refining craftship, Suzhou fan is a kind of folding fan which attracts many experts to write poems and draw pictures on it. They make good gifts for yourself or a friend back home.

Biluochun green tea is produced in Wu County. It is one of the ten famous Chinese Teas and is noted for its smooth shape, fresh color, fragrant aroma and mellow taste. The best Biluochun tea leaves are picked during March and April, and the prepared tea leaves are curled like screws and covered with white fuzz. Production of authentic Biluochun tea is very limited, making it expensive and hard to find.
