Border Inspection
Eligible passengers may use the special passages for the 24-hour visa-for transit going through the border inspection procedures. Passengers are required to hand over to the border police their valid entry and exit documents, a connecting passenger ticket with specified date and seat for a trip to third country(region) within 24hours, and Arrival card filled out in advance, and clarify the questions raised by police.
Apply for a 24-hour Stay Permit upon Arrival
Once your application for 24-hour Visa-free transit is approved, customs staff will seal the stay permit with allowed stay duration on your passport
How to get Guangzhou 24 Hours Visa Free Transit at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport?
1. Inform the air company that you will use the 144-Hour Visa-free Transit Policy when boarding.
2. Go to waiting area and fill in an Arrival Card (blue version), after landing at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Follow Guide Signs of 24/144-Hour Temporary Entry Permit Application at Baiyun Airport.
3. Submit completed Arrival Card at the 144-Hour Visa-free Counter.
4. Obtain a Temporary Entry Permit stamped on your passport. (Don’t forget to tell the officer you don’t want to use the China Visa you already got.)
5. Claim your luggage and go through customs and immigration inspections.
6. Leave Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport to start your tour in Guangzhou and other cities in Guangdong.
The 144-hour visa-free transit policy in China allows air, train and ship passengers from 53 countries to transit and stay for up to six days without a visa. You must be in transit to a third country or region (Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are included) with a departure time within 144 hours for the country you are traveling to.

How the 144 Hours are calculated?
Be advised that the 144 hours begin the next day 0:00 am after you received permission for transit.
i.e. If one arrives at 7:00 am on May 1, the layover time counts from 00:00 of May 2 and the passenger should hold a ticket with the scheduled departure time before 23:59 of May 7. In this case, the allowed stay period is more than 144 hours.
