Introduction 

Located at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain next to the Spruce Plateau and 25 km from Lijiang city in Yunnan province. The river is a natural work of art resembling a snake winding through crescent-shaped terraces enhanced to uplift their appearance and creating the most unbelievable and pretty sight against a backdrop of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The river bed is made of grey and white marbles making the water to appear as if it is white from a distance.

As the white water river flows to the east it joins black water river also flowing from the snow mountain increasing the speed at which the water flows in contrast to the grand and stationary mountains and deep valleys creating a natural wonder and is considered a miniature of Pamukkale in Turkey by many foreign visitors. 

Major attractions and activities to do on a visit 

Ride a cable car from Spruce plateau taking you deep into the white water river and get refreshing views of numerous cascading waterfalls peacefully flowing down the snow-capped peaks of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in their natural and unexploited forms.

You should also touch the cool and stunningly turquoise clear glacial river water anticipated to bring you luck according to Chinese beliefs. In addition to this, you can also enjoy a horse or yak ride as you take in picture-perfect views channeling out your photography skills. 

Walk around the beautiful natural pools of water and layers of lakes formed by calcium bicarbonate deposits at the Blue Moon Valley and appreciate the clarity of the water that you see through it sighting small water plants growing in it. The water in this location is formed as a result of four lakes: Lanyue Lake, Yuye Lake, Jingtan Lake and Tingtao Lake joining together before joining the white water river creating the shape of a blue moon.
