Naigu Stone Forest

 It is about 10 kilometers away from Stone Forest. The scenic area covers an area of about 10 square kilometers and is composed of the east, west, Baiyun Lake, Baiyun Cave and ancient battlefield. Climbing the peak, you can enjoy a black sea of black stone magnificently. If you are interested, you can walk in the forest and feel the barbaric atmosphere. What is more, there are karst caves in the underground, within which nine large and small karst caves are found until now.


Although Naigu Stone Forest and Stone Forest belong to the same type of karst topography, they are quite different from the typical sword-shaped karst landform. "Naigu" means "ancient black" in Yi language. The rocks in the scenic area are mainly dolomitic limestone originated from 270 million years ago, which is grey-black as a whole. Its pillars are tall and dense, mostly castle-shaped, tower-shaped, or mushroom-shaped. The tallest pillars are more than 40 meters. They are simple and rugged, magnificent and splendid. They are arrayed with marvelous stones and vast forests. They are famous for their barren style. They contain spectacular karst landform such as strange peaks, karst caves and lakes. Nearly a hundred scenic spots together constitute an ecological three-dimensional landscape of "overlooking from the peaks, strolling through the ground and delving into underground", showing the ancient geological features and unique landform. The beauty of natural modelling, the beauty of color, the beauty of masculinity and wilderness gives visitors a new experience.


Naigu Stone Forest consists of stone forest landscape, Baiyun Lake, Shifeng Mountain and Youguxian Waterfall. Generally, it is distributed in three regions: east, West and north. The total length of the paved stone road is more than 6 kilometers, which runs through the western and Eastern districts. 


There are many attractions in the eastern region. It takes around 2-3 hours for you to travel in this area. It takes 1-2 hours to travel in the western region. Outside the West District, there are fields, open and bright, with a pastoral scene.The northern area has not been fully developed for the passage of the narrow Trail. The rock is tall and magnificent. When you visit, you'd better wear jeans tights and anti-slippery shoes. Many areas need to be wandered through shrubs and weeds and climbed walls and rocks. This area is suitable for tourists with good physical strength and exploratory spirit. Those adventurer can enjoy the pride and joy for exploring the nature.
