Dianchi Lake

　　DianChi got another name as Kunming lake. It lies to the northwest of city Kunming. DianChi covers an area over 330 square kilometers with a latitude over 1886 meters. Dianchi is the biggest fresh water lake in Yunnan province and reputed as the “highland pearl”. The average depth of Dianchi is 5-meter but the deepest depth can reach 8-meter. Panlongjiang is one of the important upstreams for Dianchi while exodus are named as Tanlangchuan lies at southwest of Dianchi.

　　Dianchi is famous for its beautiful landscape and granted as the national tourist resort. Yunnan folk village, Yunnan museum, Huating Temple in western mountain, Taihua temple, Tower of Pure Trinity, Dragon Gate, Bamboo temple, Grand view Tower, Jinning Panlong Temple, Zhenghe park are all located nearby. Dianchi resort covers an area over 18 square kilometers.

　　Flood often happened around Dianchi. Dated back early 1262, dam had been built on the river Panlong. In 1268, Haihekou was built for enlarging water effluent and lessening flood. Since 1955, over ten large and medium reservoirs were built around upstream of Dianchi while tens electrical drainage and irrigation stations around lake were build for defending flood, at same time for providing water to farm irrigation, city and life. The lake produces carp, crucian, and money fish.
