The Tianjin Metro is the rapid transit system in the city of Tianjin, which was the second city, after Beijing, in mainland China to operate a subway system. Opened in 1984, the system has 5 operating lines including Line 1line 2, line 3, line 6 and line 9
Line 1
the Tianjin Metro Line 1 run from Liuyuan in the north to Tianjin University of Finance & Economics in the south, covering Beichen, Hongqiao, Nankai, Heping, Hexi and Jinnan Districts. With a length of 26 km (16 mi), the metro line will have 22stations in operation
Line 2
Tianjin metro line 2 stretch from east to west of the city, connecting six districts of the city including Xiqing, Nankai, Heping, Hebei, Hedong and Lidong. In August, 2014, the Binhai International Airport was put into use. At present, there are 20 stations including Binhai International Airport.
Line 3
Tianjin metro line 3 runs from northeast to southwest of the city. It is about about 34 kilometers (21 miles) starting from Xiaodian in Beichen District to South Railway Station in Xiqing District with 26 stations This metro line interchanges with Line 1 at Yingkou Road Station and Line 2 & Line 9 at Tianjin Railway Station.
Line 5
Tianjin Metro Line 5 run from Beichen Science & Technology Park North to Liqizhuang South via 28 stations. This subway line is designed to form an “O” shape circular line with metro line 6, completing the main urban rail transit framework. Tianjin Metro Line 5 will link 6 districts including Beichen, Hebei, Hedong, Hexi, Nankai and Xiqing. It will pass through several convenient stations such as Tianjin Vocational Institute, Cultural Centre, Sports Center and First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of TCM. Tianjin subway line 5 will start trial operation in June, 2018.
Line 6
Tianjin Metro Line 6, a rapid transit line running from semi-circular from north-east to south-east Tianjin. It was opened on 6 August 2016.The line is currently 45 km long and has 38 stations of which are underground. The metro line passes North Railway Station and West Railway Station as well as some local popular attractions, such as Water Park, Olympic Sports Center, Hongguang Park and Meijiang Convention & Exhibition Center. Line 6, together with Line 5 will form a loop around Tianjin.
Line 9
Tianjin Metro Line 9 run by Binhai Mass Transit Development Co. Ltd. The line opened on 28 March 2004. It has since undergone expansion, and currently spans 52.8 km and has 19 stations and connects Tianjin with neighbouring Binhai.
