Suzhou is a famous historical cultural ancient city. In long history, people in Suzhou created brilliant material cutlure and spiritual civilizaion. Therefore the culture of kingdom Wu and interesting folk custom are formed. Suzhou Folk Custom Museum lieing east of Lion Grove Garden is a professional museum featuring for the local folk custom of Suzhou. The building area is around 500 square meters. The building architecture has a feature of Qing Dynasty and is a relic protection unit of local province. The museum opened to public in Nov. 1986 when city Suzhou had an age of 2500 year old.

　　Suzhou Folk Custom Museum is the first national physical museum for exhibiting things related to local folk and custom. The family temple and residence of Bei lies to the south, the family temple of Wang lies to the north. There are the exhibitions of custom and festival, auspicious culture, birthing custom to the south gate. There are exhibitions of festivals, songs of Kingdom Wu, folk crafts to the north. Suzhou Folk Custom Museum is mainly for saving, exhibiting, investigating, researching folk custom. Since it went to public from 1986, there are over 3 millions visitors. The former residence of Lion Grove Garden forms the south exhibition hall of the museum which overs an area over 1031 square meters with exhibition area covers 370 square meters. Another ancient building complex forms the northern exhibitions halls of the museum covering areas 1100 square meters with exhibition areas over 380 square meters. The whole exhibition areas covers area over 2131 square meters with exhibtion areas covering 750 square meters.

　　There are over 2000 pieces saving in the museum and over 500 exhibited in the museum. There are five exhibitions including wedding, birthing, festival, longevity and songs of kingdom Wu . The human ritual, longevity festival and songs of kingdom Wu form the basic exhibitions. Since the museum went to public, there are over 3000 pieces gathered from different classes in the public. There are also a serial of reseaches of social folk customs including the human ritual, longevity festival and social custom. There are three exhibition halls including weddding custom, festival custom, food custom in the museum.
