Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

　　In order to memorize Dr. Sun Yat-sen, residence in Guangzhou and overseas Chinese gathered funds and built Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall was completed from 1929 to 1931. In 1956, the re-casting 5 meters Dr. Sun Yat-sen bronze stature were stationed in front of the hall. In 1963, the hall were renovated largely with roof covering by blue tiles. The 60,000 square meter park was all fenced by iron. There were planted with many trees and flowers in the park.

　　Sun Yat-sen was a Chinese physician, writer, philosopher, calligrapher and revolutionary, the first president and founding father of the Republic of China. As the foremost pioneer of the Republic of China, Sun is referred to as the "Father of the Nation" in the Republic of China, Hong Kong, Macau and the "forerunner of democratic revolution" in People's Republic of China. Sun played an instrumental role in the overthrow of the Qing dynasty during the years leading up to the Xinhai Revolution. He was appointed to serve as Provisional President of the Republic of China when it was founded in 1912. He later co-founded the Nationalist Party of China, serving as its first leader.

　　Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is a grand octagon building with typical Chinese architectural style. The whole architecture was built with a span of 71 meters without a pillar, but with significant outlooks and delicate interior designs. As an important place for conferences and performances, it can hold thousands of people with sound equipment. In the hall there is also a display gallery showing pictures and letters of Sun Yat-sen.

　　In the front of the memorial hall, there erects the statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. The dome of the octagon pavilion of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is surrounded by the four decorating double eaves from the front, back, left, and right sides. The whole construction is majestic, solemn and rich in Chinese national culture. Inside the memorial hall, there are tall and straight ancient but precious trees and cloud pillars with lifelike cranes on them, presenting a magnificent scene. Around the memorial hall, yellow walls and red pillars decorated by blue glazed tiles, are shining in the sun, showing the resplendence and solemnity. Back of the memorial hall, there is the Sun Yat-sen Monument erecting on the top of Yuexiu Mountain. The audience house inside the memorial hall is an outstanding construction among world-famous architecture too.
