Introduction 

The museum covers 4300 square meters and is located in the south of Dunhuang city around 25 kilometers from Mogao Grotto inside the Crescent Lake scenic area. It adapted the use of wooden structures in quadrangle dwellings and rooms that are in front of the courtyard displaying just how simple and elegant the construction was during the Dunhuang local folk culture. This museum is also renowned as a place for cultural life reflection.

The museum has 126 different rooms to display rich folk customs that represent a rich sense of history that they carry meticulously for occasions like ancestral worshipping ceremonies, birthdays, weddings and marriage ceremonies, religion and funerals. In addition to that, there are paintings, food, clothes, calligraphy and paintings, jewelry, embroidery amongst many other relics.
