Day 1 Chengdu

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Wenshu Monastery, Kuanzhai Alley

Tour guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel. It will take about 30 minutes to drive to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. You will see pandas in the natural environment. You can see pandas lying or sitting, eating or playing, most of the day they eat bamboo or sleep.

At around 12:00, you will be served with a Chinese lunch. Then continue to visit Wenshu Monastery in the afternoon. Wenshu Monastery is the best-preserved Buddhist temple and cultural relics in Chengdu. Buddha relics and Master Xuanzang parietal bone relic are attractive things in the monastery.

In the afternoon, you will go to Kuanzhai Alley.is like the fish spine. Wide alley is the "leisure life" area and represents Chengdu life. You can feel the customs and folklore of the old city here. Narrow alley is the "slow life" area and represents the old courtyard of Chengdu culture. You can find numerous restaurants and bars here.

At 17:00 pm, you will be sent back to the hotel.

Leshan Giant Buddha

After breakfast, drive to Leshan city(2.5h) where you might board a riverboat for the best view of the Leshan Giant Buddha. The massive Buddha was carved out of a cliff with a history of more than a thousand years, but now it still looks very complete and best-preserved in superb craftsmanship. The tour ends from sending you back hotel in Chengdu.

Yes everything was spectacular and fascinating very professional and prompt services. There were beautiful places to explore and to see in the 4 hours that we had. The comfort and beauty of the China was incredible, The history, culture and way of life of the local people we bumped into during the layover was beyond our expectations. Hiking on the Great wall after driving through a small remote countryside was very relaxing and rejuvenating. It was the best trip ever to experience on a few hours.

We had not previously used a travel agency for touring. The crew including the driver and tour guide were really funny, friendly and knowledgeable. Despite having limited time we still had free time allowing for shopping and grabbing a meal and drinks. Highly recommend this layover in Beijing.

Well worth it! Jenny was really nice and incredibly helpful with the immigration process after airport personnel originally escorted to the wrong area and didn’t want to allow leaving the airport.
